
News release from the Kansas Department of Transportation:
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, the BNSF Railway will close its crossing on K-47 (St. John Street) at the east side of Girard to make surface and asphalt upgrades.
K-47 will be closed to all through traffic at this location during the BNSF crossing repairs. The repair project is expected to last three days, weather permitting, with the highway reopening to all traffic around 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 21.
East- and westbound K-47 motorists will follow a signed detour along Sinnet, West Forest and Cherokee streets in Girard. No significant traffic delays are expected.
