Secret admirer sends flowers to residents at Medicalodge Columbus

Updated:

Some residents of a long and short term care facility in Columbus, Kansas have a secret friend.

About 50 men and women residents of Medicalodge Columbus received carnations on Valentine's Day.  It's part of a tradition for at least the past 10 years.

But no one knows who sends the carnations.

An anonymous person or group buys them through a local florist.

"I think it's nice," says resident Jean Plunkett. "I think it's nice because that makes it a little different, a little special."

"In our building, frequently we have folks that that don't receive flowers from family members or even from friends so it's nice that they can be remembered," says Lorie Fortmayer of Medicalodge Columbus.

Vases are returned to the florist to use again for next year's delivery.
