EDMOND, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State men's basketball team fell 92-76 to Central Oklahoma on Saturday (Feb. 23) afternoon at Hamilton Fieldhouse.
Pitt State shot 55.3 percent for the game, including 53.3 percent from three-point range, but 16 turnovers to just six for the Bronchos made a big difference in the game.
Jake Bullard led the Gorillas with 19 points. He was 7-of-8 from the floor. Kaleb Porter also scored in double figures with 17.
The Bronchos Josh Gibbs led all players with 23 points. Christian Huffman (17), Spencer Smith (13), June Carter (10) and Jamell Cormier (10) also scored in double figures..
An 18-2 run early in the first half gave the Bronchos a 28-10 lead with 8:25 remaining. A Kaleb Porter three with 2:13 left in the half, cut the Bronchos lead to 11, but they were able to build it back to 20 points, 46-26, at the half.
Midway through the second half, Pitt State went on a 14-3 run to be able to cut the UCO lead to 10 points, 73-63, with 5:41 remaining. That would be the closest the game would get, ending in the loss for the Gorillas.
Pitt State will return to John Lance Arena on Wednesday, Feb. 27 to play rival Missouri Southern at 7:30 p.m.
