
WARRENSBURG, Mo. — The Pitt State men's indoor track & field team finished as the conference runner-up while the Gorilla women placed fifth overall at the 2013 MIAA Indoor Championships Sunday (Feb. 24).
The Pitt State men compiled 106.5 points to finish behind MIAA champion Central Missouri, which tallied 122.5 points. Missouri Southern finished third with 94 points. The Gorilla women totaled 54 points to finish behind MIAA champion Lincoln (190.5), MSSU (114), UCM (67.5) and Emporia State (67.5).
The Pitt State men MIAA championship performances from Colbie Snyder in the pole vault and Keenan Soles in the long jump Sunday. Snyder cleared 16 feet, 7.25 inches to win his second consecutive title, while Soles repeated as MIAA champion with a winning mark of 24-1.75.
Steven Mann also finished second in the long jump (23-5.25), while Jeff Piepenbrink placed third in the pole vault (15-11.25) and Josh Phillips finished fourth in the discipline (15-7.75).
Additionally, Adam Volkert finished third in the 3000 meters in 8 minutes, 33.84 seconds.
The Pitt State women got second-place efforts from Emily Ballock in the 600 yard run (1:23.81) and Larissa Richards in the shot put (45-4.5). Charissa Wall also placed third in the shot put (44-9.75) and Bridgette McCormick finished fourth in the mile run (5:12.71). The 4x400m relay of Ballock, Hillary Dickey, Lauren Ouderkirk and Ramie Grayson also placed fourth in 3:55.89.
