Pitt State fraternity Sigma Phi Epsilon and sorority Sigma Sigma Sigma teamed up for the 5th annual Ali Kemp fashion show and self defense class.
About 150 people met to see this years formal wear trends and to learn self defense skills. Kemp's parents founded the Ali kemp educational foundation, know as T.A.K.E. in honor of their late daughter who was murdered while working at a neighborhood pool in Johnson County Kansas back in 2002.
Organizer Michael Saldivar says the event is a great opportunity to learn about fashion and combat tips.
"I think it is important, personally, because a woman should know how to defend themselves in any situation and this is a problem and we want to solve it" says Saldivar.
Members of the fraternity and sorority sported clothing from Jean Scene in Pittsburg. Both groups plan on meeting again for the event next year.
