
PITTSBURG -- Nebraska-Kearney used a 12-run third inning to rally from a 5-0 deficit and claim a 14-7 victory over Pittsburg State Monday (Mar. 4) at Al Ortolani Field.
The Lopers (5-5, 5-3 MIAA) utilized eight hits and a costly error by the Gorillas (5-2, 3-2 MIAA) to plate 12 runs in the pivotal third frame.
UNK limited Pitt State to a pair of runs and just six hits after the Gorillas touched Loper starter for five runs and seven hits in the first three frames.
Matt Wuest went 3-for-4 with a grandslam and seven RBIs in the game to power the Lopers.
Jacoby Martin went 2-for-3 for the Gorillas, while Evan Thomas, Tory Stoffregen also had two hits apiece.
The Gorillas will travel to Joplin, Mo., Wednesday (Mar. 6) for an MIAA doubleheader against Missouri Southern. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. (CST) at Joe Becker Stadium.
