Kids in Joplin draw out their ideas for a new park

The McDonalds Foundation and Kaboom hosted a Design Day in Joplin for the youngsters who put their ideas for a new playground on paper.

Elements from the designs will go into the final design for a new playground scheduled to be built at Community Support Services of Missouri at the end of May.

"It's so important to Kaboom that we have the kids' input throughout the process, we want this to be a playground that they want to use and that they feel like they contributed to," says Kaboom project manager Lauren Allen.

The playground is the 9th of 12 playgrounds scheduled to be built by mid-2013 as part of a new partnership between McDonald's Foundation and Kaboom.
