Joplin police investigate armed robbery

Updated at 12:15 PM CST:  Joplin police are on the search for a suspect in an attempt armed robbery case. Police officials say they received a call around 9 p.m. on Wednesday about an armed robbery at 66 Food Mart on West 7th Street.

Authorities say a man walked in the store with a handgun, pointed it at the clerk and demanded money. Police believe the suspect was panicked by something and fled the scene without taking anything or hurting anyone.

Authorities have obtained security footage from the store and will review it today.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Joplin Police Department.

Posted March 7 at 5:08 AM CST:  Joplin police are investigating an armed robbery last night at a convenience store.

It happened at 66 Food Mart on 7th Street.

Authorities say a man walked in the store with a handgun and asked for money.

He then fled on foot.

We're expected to learn more later this morning.
