Pittsburg State celebrates Apple Day

Pittsburg State celebrated Apple Day on Thursday, focusing on the history of the campus.

In 1907 the mayor of Pittsburg received a fine of a barrel of apples for lobbying the state house for funds for the college.

In honor of his success the town decided to make it an annual event.

Thursday's ceremony included an introduction of the 2013 Outstanding Faculty as well as the recognition of the Distinguished Service Award Winners, Catherine Albright, and Alan and Roberta Whetzel.
