Several students in southwest Missouri are given an official sendoff before embarking on mission trips.
High school students at Joplin's College Heights Christian School are going on trips both nationwide and international.
The students and faculty attended a special chapel service on Friday.
Some teens will stay in Joplin for missions while others will travel to Kansas, Kentucky and even Jamaica and Mexico.
One school teacher says the trips will be beneficial in many ways.
"I teach history and so I think it's really important that they know all the dates and they know what happened in history, but more than anything else that we do in our school, I think that teaching kids that they have an honor and a privilege to spread God's word and that that's what really is your purpose here is," says Katie Strawn, a teacher at College Heights Christian School.
"I'm looking forward to VBS with the kids again because they're a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to some of the painting that we're going to do this year that we didn't get to do last year," says William Estep, a student going to Jamaica.
About 170 students will be participating in these mission trips.
