BOSTON, March 8, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Eaton Vance Massachusetts Municipal Bond Fund (NYSE MKT: MAB) (the "Fund"), a closed-end management investment company, today announced the earnings of the Fund for the three months ended December 31, 2012.  The Fund's fiscal year ends on September 30, 2013.

For the three months ended December 31, 2012, the Fund had net investment income of $356,647 ($0.202 per common share). From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $9,313 (equal to $0.005 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $347,334, or $0.197 per common share. In comparison, for the three months ended December 31, 2011, the Fund had net investment income of $367,663 ($0.208 per common share). From this amount, the Fund paid dividends on preferred shares of $7,071 (equal to $0.004 for each common share), resulting in net investment income after the preferred dividends of $360,592, or $0.204 per common share.

Net realized and unrealized losses for the three months ended December 31, 2012 were $292,551 ($0.165 per common share). In comparison, net realized and unrealized gains for the three months ended December 31, 2011 were $485,721 ($0.275 per common share).

On December 31, 2012, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $27,826,586. The net asset value per common share on December 31, 2012 was $15.74 based on 1,768,155 common shares outstanding. In comparison, on December 31, 2011, net assets of the Fund applicable to common shares were $25,614,013. The net asset value per common share on December 31, 2011 was $14.50 based on 1,766,074 common shares outstanding.
