Veterans were invited out to the Neosho National Fish Hatchery today for the second annual Rainbows for Veterans event.
The event was open up to veterans and their families. Folks could cast their lines out to the hatchery full of more than 6,000 rainbow trout, so there was plenty for everyone.
Fishermen were allowed to keep 4 of their catches and some plan to make a dinner out of it.
"It's the first time I've come out here to the hatchery. First time I've ever caught a trout in my life. I'm 65 and it's the first time I've ever caught one. I've tried but I've never had good luck catching them. I got some nice ones here so I hope to have them for supper tonight says veteran and Granby resident Ron Black
The expected rain luckily held off and organizers say the event was a great success.
