About 130 people from Texas on mission work came to Joplin to work on area churches. The group worked on repairing the Spring City Baptist Church on Monday.
The church was not damaged by the tornado but did need repairs. The volunteers worked on roofing, floor replacement, repainting and a number of other construction projects.
Group members say it's nice to give back to an organization that helps others.
"Small places like this that people really don't pay much attention to, that's what we're here for, they need help just as well as people that got harmed by the tornado," says volunteer Harrison Nowak.
"Just be flexible and willing be ready like, ok, one second you might be roofing and they might not need you there anymore, be ready to do another job, be flexible and you know that's how life is, you've got to roll with it," says volunteer Jacom Hendricks.
The church group takes mission trips every year. Last year they went to New Orleans.
