Chanute man in custody after shooting at two vehicles

A man in custody in Chanute is accused of shooting at two vehicles on Thursday March 14, including one that had a nine year old boy in it.

Police say the first shooting occurred around 3:50pm in the 1100 block of South Steuben. They say at least one shot hit the vehicle and the suspect fled the area.

A short time later multiple shots were fired at a vehicle in the 500 block of South Garfield.

A 49 year old Chanute man is now in custody on potential charges of aggravated assault, aggravated endangering a child and criminal discharge of a weapon.
