Pittsburg hospital donates medical supplies to Joplin doctor who'll be visiting Haiti

Updated:

A Joplin doctor and Pittsburg's Via Christi Hospital are teaming up for a mission trip to Haiti.

Baby beds, mattresses, lights and other unused medical supplies were unloaded on Tuesday from a warehouse outside Via Christi.  They'll be used for a project organized by OB/GYN Cheryl Fogarty called "Labor of Love".

Dr. Fogarty has been visiting Haiti since the 2010 earthquake.

Staff at Via Christi say they're glad these unused supplies will help.

"When it came time to clean out, we wanted to make sure that we donated it to a great cause. and that's where we were able to find out about Dr. Fogarty and the Labor of Love project," says Via Christi Hospital's Michael Hayslip.

Dr. Fogarty had a busy day with seeing patients and delivering babies so we were unable to interview her, but her husband helped load the materials onto trucks on Tuesday.
