Following an article posted on Delaware Online reporting a recent influx of counterfeit bills on the market, Empire Digital Products releases a statement urging business owners and consumers to watch out for fake bills.

Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) March 20, 2013

On March 20, the founder of Empire Digital Products, a leading copier retailer, comments on an article published by Delaware Online regarding the recent rise in counterfeiting in Indianapolis.

According to the article published by Delaware Online, the accessibility and abundance of color copiers and inkjet printers has led to a rise in counterfeit bills. In January alone, Indiana police seized over $54,000 in fake bills. The amount of counterfeit bills on the market has multiplied by five in the last decade, reports the article.

U.S. Secret Service Agent Lewis Robinson says counterfeiting is easy with the development of certain machines. “Now, with the technology of color copying machines, computers and inkjet printers,” he says in the article, “all I’ve got to do is put my note on the scanner and scan it – and then just manipulate the images with whatever photo software I have and print it out.”

Scott Brodsky, the founder of Empire Digital Products, says many printers and copiers have high-tech computer systems that could contribute to the rise in home-printed money. “It’s a shame that the public is still hurting from the economy and people feel the need to print their own money,” he says. “It’s extremely unethical and this is an example of how people are misusing great technology. While police in Indiana are doing a great job at seizing fake bills, more needs to be done to develop technology that prevents this type of printing.”

The article says many businesses in Indianapolis have invested in computerized verification safes which reject and spit out counterfeit bills. Due to the fact that there are so many ways to create fake bills, Brodsky urges printer and copier manufacturers to develop technology that prohibits users from recreating fake bills in color.

“We have so many intelligent people working as engineers,” he says. “The government or Federal Reserve should start looking into creating a chip or some sort of program that prevents copiers from printing fake bills. These engineers can pinpoint the telltale differences in counterfeit bills and use new software to make sure copiers recognize these signs. Technology like this should be universally implemented in all copiers to decrease the potential for counterfeiting.”

Empire Digital Products is currently one of the most well respected copier dealerships in New York. There dual focus is on reducing overhead and enhancing document workflow. With the best service department in the industry and a very capable staff it is no wonder Empire has been met with great success.
