The Joplin School District held a community input session on Monday to discuss the recently adopted Standards of Excellence.
Parents, business leaders and school officials met and brainstormed ways to implement the new standards.
They also discussed milestones in the Joplin school's history and many said the next milestone is completing the new high school.
Officials say these meetings with community members are important in establishing plans for the district.
"The community can be a great sounding board for feedback and for suggestions on where we can go, which way we can head in the future," says Dawn Sticklen of the Joplin Board of Education.
Some of the other issues discussed were the schools mission and what areas need improvement.
