Donation deadline approaches for May Day Mom

News release issued by the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce

The Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring the 25th Annual May Day Mom contest.  The essay contest is open to all Neosho 2nd and 3rd graders.  Entry forms have been distributed to the teachers.  Students are asked to write an essay explaining why their mother should be chosen as this year's May Day Mom.  Chamber members will judge the essays and determine the winner.

Prize donations are currently being accepted from local merchants.  The May Day Mom and her child will be escorted around town in a chauffeur-driven limousine, courtesy of Clark Funeral Home to pick up donated prizes on Friday, May 10th.  Participating merchants to date are:  Beck Floral & Gifts, Dr. Fly's Salon, McDonalds of Neosho, Mitchell's Downtown Drug Store, Neosho Beauty College, Neosho Gifts Etcetera, PeKing Garden, Sexton Photography & Tuxedos & The News Dispatch, Spee Dee Lube, and WXY Sporting Goods.

The Chamber will continue to accept prize donations through April 24th.  "This is a really special event.  Participating in May Day Mom is a great way for merchants to promote their business.  Every participating merchant will be listed in all publicity relating to the event," stated Shana Griffin of the Chamber.Any merchant who would like to participate is asked to call the Chamber at 451-1925.
