Southern football announces 2013 schedule

JOPLIN. --The Missouri Southern football team will play six games at home next season asthe Lions have released their 2013 schedule. 

Southern willalso play two games on TV as the MIAA announced the Lions' games atNortheastern State on Sept. 14 and at home against Lincoln on Sept. 21 will bepart of the league's TV package. 

The Lionswill open up the season at home on Thursday, Sept. 5 against Central Oklahomaat 6 pm in Fred G. Hughes Stadium. They will travel to NSU on Sept. 14, beforecoming back home to face Lincoln on Sept. 21 for the annual Hall of Famegame. 

Southern willthen head to Southwest Baptist on Sept. 28, before facing off with CentralMissouri at home on Oct. 5. The Lions will travel to South Dakota Mines on Oct.12 for one of two non-conference games on the schedule this season. MissouriWestern will come to town on Oct. 19, while the Lions will travel to NorthwestMissouri on Oct. 26. 

Homecoming2013 will be on November 2 against Lindenwood and it will be a 2 pm kickoff.Southern will play host to NAIA Lindenwood-Belleville on Nov. 9 for the homefinale and Senior Day and the Lions will conclude the regular season with theSonic Miners Bowl in Pittsburg against PSU on Nov. 16.
