Kansas governor signs bill to eliminate statute of limitations for rape cases

The five-year statute of limitations for prosecuting rape cases will be abolished in Kansas under a bill signed Monday by Governor Sam Brownback.

The law will take effect July 1.  It also removes the statute of limitations for prosecution of aggravated criminal sodomy.

Kansas is currently one of only 10 states that have a five year time limit for rape cases to be prosecuted.
