Updated April 3, 2013: The Kansas Senate has rejected a proposal intended to bring a casino to Southeast Kansas. The bill would have dropped the minimum investment required for a casino.
Tuesday's 25 to 14 vote against the measure came shortly after the chamber had given its first round approval.
Posted April 2, 2013: Southeast Kansas legislators are continuing their efforts with enticing developers to bring a state-owned casino to the area.
The bill would drop the minimum investment by a developer from $225 million to $50 million.
The gambling bill is on the senate's agenda Tuesday. The measure would also kill any chance of slot machines at horse or dog race tracks.
