25th Annual May Day Mom contest underway in Neosho

The Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce has announced thatthe 25th Annual May Day Mom contest is underway.  The essay contest is open to all Neosho 2ndand 3rd graders.  Entry forms have beendistributed to the teachers.  Studentsare asked to write an essay of 50 words or less explaining why their mothershould be chosen as this year's May Day Mom.

Chambermembers will judge the entries and the winner will be notified on Thursday,April 25th.  About 300 students areexpected to enter the contest.  Accordingto Shana Griffin of the Chamber, judging such a large number of entries takesseveral volunteers.

"Thejudging is certainly the most difficult part of this event. It's so hard to pick just one winner.  Undoubtedly, the judges have a toughjob", stated Griffin.

Several merchants are participating in this year'spromotion.  They are: Beck Floral & Gifts-, Dr. Fly's Salon's-, Front Page,Neosho-, Mazzio's Italian Eatery.-McDonald's of Neosho,-Mitchell's DowntownDrug Store,-Neosho Beauty College-,Neosho Gifts Etcetera,-ParksInsurance,-Peking Garden,-Sexton Photography &  Tuxedos and The News-Dispatch,-SPEE-DEE-LUBE, and WXY Sporting Goods.

Prize donations are currently being accepted.  Any merchant who would like to participate inthe promotion by donating a prize is asked to call the Chamber at451-1925.  The deadline to submit prizedonations is Thursday, April 24th. Participating in the May Day Mom event is a great way for merchants topromote their business.  Everyparticipating merchant will be listed in all publicity relating to theevent", stated Griffin.
