Pittsburg State continues to get input regarding tobacco on campus

A tobacco policy task force formed last year at Pittsburg State continues to hear from the university community.  The university is not yet a tobacco free campus but it could see changes soon.

Information from a survey in March was presented during an open forum on Wednesday.  That survey suggests the majority would like to see a tobacco-free campus.

More than 800 campuses across the nation are smoke free.

"Smokers have rights - we already exiled them outside and as far as I've seen smokers have respected those rules," says Bartholomew Klick, a student at PSU.

"Anytime I'm around smoke my eyes get really swollen, so when I walk behind somebody I can smell it and I start coughing," says Ashley Smith, a student at PSU.

The final recommendation will be made to the university president in May.
