A new trend of martini bars is hitting Joplin's downtown with two new options for specialty drinks popping up in the city.
The bars are open by business owners already established downtown, one a martini and fondue bar from the JB's Piano Bar owner, and the other a speakeasy bar open by the owners of Caldone's restaurant.
Both owners say the bars come at the request from customers feeling like the specialty drink market was lacking in town.
With more diversity the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce hopes it will attract even more business to town.
"An appeal to our residents here, give them something different to try, give them a few more options," says Kristie Smith of the Joplin Area Chamber of Commerce. "Obviously we want everyone to stay here in our communities and shop local, so that means to get your entertainment local too."
Speakeasy had its soft opening a few weeks ago but will hold a grand opening in a few weeks.
JB's Far Side of the Moon says they will be ready for business at the start of next month.
