Home Show in Parsons

Updated:

From roofing, to flooring and every room in your home, there was a little bit of everything at today's home show in Parsons.

The Parsons community packed the former Sutherland's building for this years southeast Kansas home show. Vendors from all over the area displayed their services and products for those interested. Products for in the house, along with the outdoors were on display.

The show kicked off at 10 AM, with lines out the door for the entrance.

"Hopefully it's an event that the parsons community can embrace and it's right in their back yard so they can attend. But at the same time we're attracting people from all over the four states so of course that helps out the Parsons economy in the long run" says Jim Zaleski with the Parsons Chamber of Commerce.

Zaleski says they hope the home show will be bigger and better next year.

Kids at an orphanage in Haiti can now grow their own produce to eat and sell. And it's all thanks to Pitt State's "Enactus" team. Five students researched and worked together with a math and physics student to design a "hydroponics" system. It's a way of growing produce without soil, using PVC pipe and water. The team built and installed the system in Haiti last month. "The idea was to have them to have a way to have a source of income. Not just a...More >>
