Pitt State Student Encourages 4H

A Pittsburg State University student wants to give back to Vernon Counties 4H program with an enrollment fair.

P.S.U. senior Jennifer Hancock chose to help the 4H program because she went through it when she was in high school. Today's event included information booths for those interested.

Hancock says she wants to expose the positive aspects 4H can provide to local youth who are unfamiliar with the program.

"I think the community has taken off focus from families and families working together with youth, so I really want to bring 4H into the community and show that it isn't just about raising an animal and showing it at the fair, yes that is one part about it but 4H is such a great family activity" says Hancock.

Hancock expects to increase enrollment by 5% for the next enrollment season.

There are 19 clubs in Vernon County.
