Community Crisis Center hosts meeting in Miami, Okla

Updated:

The Community Crisis Center hosted a meeting in Miami, Oklahoma on Wednesday to discuss Ottawa County's Coordinated Community Response, or CCR team.

CCR representatives from a number of local law enforcement agencies discussed the importance of the team to the community.  One topic of discussion was how all of the local agencies are working together to address domestic violence and safe practices when responding to a domestic violence emergency.

"The mission will be to look at increasing victim safety and look at increasing offender accountability," says Sandra Thompson, a specialist with the CCR team.

"There is help out there," says Tony Weisley of the Eastern Shawnee Tribal Police.  "There is in this area people that want to help people that are victims of domestic violence."

Area officers were also in training Wednesday afternoon on how to approach domestic cases and collecting physical evidence.
