Arrest made following brief standoff in Pittsburg

An Independence man was taken into custody late Thursday night following a brief standoff in Pittsburg.

Authorities say at about 9:22 p.m. on Thursday they issued a search warrant at 2202 South Tucker Street in Pittsburg for Roy Kimball Miller, 35.  Miller had felony warrants for aggravated battery and aggravated burglary out of Montgomery County.

Following a brief standoff Miller turned himself in without further incident.  He now faces charges of aggravated assault and criminal threat in Pittsburg.

An Independence woman was also arrested.  A charge of obstructing apprehension of a wanted felon is pending.

Following the arrests authorities searched the home and discovered a controlled substance believed to be methamphetamine, other drug paraphernalia, three handguns, a rifle and a shotgun.

The investigation is ongoing.  Anyone with more information should call the Pittsburg Police Department at 620-231-1700.
