High school students check out Pittsburg State's College of Technology

High school students from across the region got a chance to check out Pittsburg State University's College of Technology programs.  It's an event at the Kansas Technology Center.

More the 400 students took part in the event, which featured a number of demonstrations and presentations.

The PSU College of Technology has five departments, 260 workstations, and close to 70 technical labs.

School officials say it shows students what they can expect if they enroll.

"They can get more of a perspective on 'what is this going to look like, not just my first two years taking prerequisites, but as I get into my core classes and as I start looking at what will my job look like,'" says Pam Dunlop, a home school teacher from Parker, Kansas.  "They can get a feel for that by seeing the technology that they would use in their classes."

The PSU College of Technology holds the event every semester.
