The rain may have put a damper on outdoor activities, but at the Joplin Family YMCA, kids rushed indoors to keep get fit having fun.
YMCA's across the country celebrated "Healthy Kids Day". The free community event helps kid get a jump start on a healthier summer.
The Missouri Southern men's basketball team provided tips and tricks, along with playing games with the kids.
Organizers say the active play and educational activities will help fight obesity by keeping kids active and gives parents tools and ideas to keep their kids fit all year long.
"What we're trying to do is just give them ideas to equip them so they can even do these things at home. We have an obstacle course going on, a lot of that stuff you can make with things in your home" says Relations Director Krystelle Lamczyk.
The day wrapped up with healthy snacks and water provided for the kids.
