Parsons Police Announce Police Officer Week Activities

PARSONS, KS —As part of the week-long celebration ofNational Police Officers Week, May 12-18, 2013, the Parsons Police OfficersAssociation are hosting a variety of activities.

The week kicks off with a special Blessing of the BadgesCeremony and Swearing In of Parsons Law Enforcement Officers. This ceremonywhich is open to officers and their families will be held on Monday, May 13 at6 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church.

On Thursday, May 16, the Parsons Police Officers will holdan Open House. Stop by 217 N. Central in Parsons for station tours, to meet theofficers and department staff and enjoy a free hot dog. The open house will befrom 6 to 8 p.m. and the public is invited to participate.

The National Police Officers Week will wrap up on Saturday,May 18 with the Parsons Police Officers Association Policeman's Ball. It willbe held from 6 p.m. to Midnight at the Parsons VFW, 105 Main Street. There will be a socialhour beginning at 6 p.m., followed by a dinner and dance. Other activitiesincluded during the Ball will include a special silent auction, photos andcommunity and officer awards ceremony. Dress for this event is business formal.Tickets are available at the Parsons Police Department, 217 N. Central,Parsons. Or for more information, call Charlotte Lamb at 620-421-7069. Ticketsare $35 per person, $50 per couple or $300 for a table of 8. Purchase yourtickets before May 13. Proceeds from the Parsons Police Officers AssociationPoliceman's Ball will benefit the Policeman's Memorial and Building ImprovementFunds.

Missouri Southern's Board of Governors approved a 15 percent increase in student tuition last April, upping credit hours by $30.
