The Alliance of Southwest Missouri is taking it's parent education skills to the doorsteps of at risk families.
Thanks to a grant members of the Alliance are now able to make home visitations to families involved in Project Care, a child abuse and neglect prevention program.
Before, other agencies were required to make the home visits. Now that the Alliance members are able to meet with the families on personal level they say they are able to better assist families with what they need to get back on their feet.
Director of Development Sallie Hughes says home visitations help them better understand some families' day to day environment.
"With those visits our staff members are able to assess the atmosphere of the home and then make connections from there so they can take advantage of parenting classes, social connections, community resources, educational and financial concerns and our staff members are trained to authorize those services," says Hughes.
There are some qualifications to enroll for home visitations through Project Care. For more information visit http://www.theallianceofswmo.org/projectcare
