A veteran southeast Kansas lawmaker will retire at the end of the 2013 session, 64 year old Bob Grant.
From Frontenac, he told colleagues Friday he will step down to spend more time with his family. The longtime democratic lawmaker is known for his colorful language and casual dress. Grant was first appointed to the house in 1991. He lost election in 1994 but returned in 1996 and has been serving since. Grants says he's talked to people about filling his unexpired term.
