PSU students building a bridge for a longtime Pittsburg teacher

Updated:

Some technology students at Pittsburg State are building a bridge for a long-time educator.

The class drew up the plans and built it in parts at the school and are now assembling and installing it at a pond owned by Max Lundquest, a former teacher with the Pittsburg School District.

The instructor of the project says he thought it would be a good educational project for the students while also helping out a dear friend.

"They really need something to actually get their chance to work with it, and in this case, 2x4's, plywood, screws and nails and saws and the whole business," says Lundquest.

Lundquest said the new bridge will be the third at his pond.  The current bridge is more than 20 years old.
