Police were called to a home where they found two people with gunshot wounds to the head.

Dena Davenport, 49, was rushed to a Grove hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Doyle Handle, 52, was in the yard and still conscious.  He was flown to a Joplin hospital and was last reported to be in stable condition.

The couple lived at the home.

Authorities say they intend to charge Handle with homicide.

"Without going into it too much, there are indications that there was some arguing earlier in the evening between the couple," says Grove Police Chief Mark Morris.  "Our hearts all go out to their family.  I personally know the family, as most people do within the community, very good family and it's a tragic situation as all these are."
