Pittsburg Karate Tournament - KOAM TV 7

Pittsburg Karate Tournament

Updated:

The 5th annual Open Karate Tournament brings in about a hundred fighters to Pittsburg, from all across the four states.

Fighters from the pee-wee division to 45 and up spent the day competing with their peers. The pittsburg Parks and Recreation Department and Whites Kenpo Karate Academy sponsored the event.

Organizer Ron White says karate is all about being to help out those in need.

"Well some of the them look at it as a rewarding type thing, coming to the competition, getting their trophies, but for the most part myself and a few others we take it to be able to defend themselves and maybe be able to defend somebody out there, that's weaker than us that we can help out" says White.

White says they are looking into adding more events to next year's tournament.
