PSU officials tour Center for the Arts construction site - KOAM TV 7

Pittsburg State officials tour Center for the Arts construction site

Updated:

Pittsburg State officials toured the new Center for the Arts construction site on Tuesday.

The $33 million facility is paid for by donations and student fees.

Crossland Construction is building the facility and getting a little help from PSU student interns.

Although it can't be seen from the road, crews are working on the orchestra pit.

PSU President Steven Scott says one day he hopes all 1,100 seats in the new facility will have plaques on them.

"We think that's just a great way to get involved in this project, because at the end of the day what we'd not only love to do is have people come to the events we have in that building, but to feel ownership of it," says Scott.

Groundbreaking for the site took place in February.

Construction is expected to be complete by 2015.
