Get Fit TRYathlon - KOAM TV 7

Get Fit TRYathlon

Updated:

Families meet at Pittsburg State University for the get fit triathlon.

The event consists of 3 sections, swimming, biking and running, like a traditional triathlon only with modified distances for kids.

Adults could also participate as well, a 5k and 10k kicked off the day. Organizers say making the effort to try something new can be scary, but it still can be fun.

"Try it. Because a lot of kids have never done it all three combined. A lot of them may do it single- or may not be very good at one of them, but doing them all 3 is completely different and it can be intimidating, but once they see they actually can do it by trying it they have a lot of fun and hopefully they learn a little bit about each of the three areas as well" says race director Joanna Rhodes.

The top three winners in each age group, both kids and adults received medals and trophies. Afterwards, those winners could stop by our KOAM tent, our promotions staff Megan and Vance were handing out free popcorn to all the kids.
