Christ in Youth Move Conference underway in Joplin

Updated:

High school students from at least six states are living on the Ozark Christian College campus this week for the Christ in Youth Move Conference.

The Christ in Youth conference is designed to motivate the 150 students to take action and inspire them to make a difference in their world now.

Megan Parke says it's working.

"They show me stories of what other people did - it just really makes me want to do something too," says Parke.  "I just keep going through ideas in my head of possible thing I could do."

The students learn about becoming Kingdom workers.

Many of the students become empowered through videos and the music featured.

At the end of their week they are given challenge cards.  If they open it, they're promising to carry out the mission inside.

Breakout sessions are held with their own youth group so that students know they're not alone in accepting these challenges and a difference they can make in their communities.

The Joplin CIY Move event is the first of many across the nation which will involve a total of 25,000 students.
