Schifferdecker Family Aquatic Center will open Saturday, June 8

Schifferdecker Family Aquatic Center will open on Saturday,June 8. Hours are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. With many new features, swimmersof all ages will enjoy this new facility. The aquatic center features a lazy river, lap pool, five slides, adeck mounted play structure and water spray features. 

Schifferdecker Family Aquatic Center is located on thesouthwest corner of 4th Street and Schifferdecker Avenue. Admissionis five dollars for adults 16 years of age and older, and four dollars forchildren 15 years of age and under.  Children, age 2 and under, areadmitted free of charge.

Season passes are also available for admission to all threeaquatic centers. These passes offer unlimited admission to all three of thepools.  A family season pass is $125. The individual adult season passes,ages 18 and up is $70 and individual children season passes, ages 3 to 17 andsenior citizen passes, ages 60 and up, is $60.

The City ofJoplin offers a fifty percent reduced rate program for the 2013 pool seasonpass memberships. To qualify, residents should live within the city limits ofJoplin and receive one of the following: WIC assistance; Food Stamp assistance;Medicaid assistance; or MO HealthNet Managed Care. Residents will need toprovide documentation at Joplin Athletic Complex during purchase of seasonpasses. For more information, call 417-625-4750.

Family swim night will be offered every Friday from 6 to 8p.m. at Schifferdecker with admission rate discounted by fifty percent of theregular price. Morning lap swim will be available from 7 a.m. to 12 noonTuesday through Friday. Admission for lap swim is $1.50 or free with a seasonpass.

We are alsooffering FREE swims at Schifferdecker, Cunningham and Ewert pools! CunninghamPool is free on Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Schifferdecker Pool is free onWednesdays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Ewert Pool offers free swim  onTuesdays and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Private poolparties can be held at Schifferdecker and Cunningham locations from 6:30-9:30p.m.  To rent Cunningham Aquatic Center for this activity, the feeis  $125 per hour.  Schifferdecker Aquatic Center is available for$200 an hour for rental of the entire facility. To rent just the lazyriver area or the competition pool, the fee is $125 per hour.

    A Carthage, Missouri cheese plant has begun an expansion project that will bring jobs to the area. Schreiber Foods says the 29,000 foot expansion will add 160 jobs to the plant.
