Boil order lifted in Columbus, Kansas

Updated June 12 at 12:15 PM CST:  The boil order has been lifted for the City of Columbus - per the Cherokee County Sheriff's Office.

Updated June 10 at 4:40 PM CST:  Columbus, Kansas is under a boil order because of a water line break.

It started around 10:30 p.m. on Sunday after city workers noticed the line.

The city superintendent says the bottom of the line blew out likely because of the pipes age.

The pipe has now been fixed but the boil order will remain in effect at least through the night as pressure is built back up and the water is tested.

Posted June 10, 2013 at 10:41 AM CST - From the City of Columbus:

The City of Columbus has had a major water leak and is now under a boil order until further notice as we have fallen below the line pressure that is required by Kansas Department of Health and Environment.
