Australian aerospace company to bring jobs to northeast Oklahoma

Updated:

An Australian based aerospace engineering firm chooses Grove, Oklahoma for its U.S. expansion.

The vice president of Pride Plating, Marty Bunch, says his firm has been quietly working with Australian aerospace company Ferra, planning the move to Grove for more than two years.  He says the two companies will now join together to work on Ferra's contract to make parts for 65 aircraft and create 20 new jobs.

"There is a lot of aircraft experience here in this local area so that was very attractive to Ferra," says Bunch.

As soon as this coming Monday Ferra will be in town and begin the transformation from empty space to working assembly line.

"It is a surprise, a lot of people look at Grove as a resort community and they don't realize how much industry is actually here," says Bunch.

Ferra says it chose Grove because of it's central location, to give easy access to customers on both coasts, as well as internationally.  Parts made here will make their way to some major airliners from Boeing to Airbus.

"It definitely is a feather in our cap from the standpoint that a well established, worldwide company decided on their own to come to our community," says Grove City Manager Bill Keefer.  "Obviously that can be a tool in marketing the community down the road and trying to attract other like businesses."

Bunch says with the space almost complete, they are looking at moving fixtures and people into the building as soon as next week and getting down to business.

Bunch says the current space is 10,000 square feet, but that Ferra hopes to expand to a 40,000 foot space within the next three years.
