Elderly Miami man seriously injured in crash


According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol crash report just after noon on Friday a vehicle was stopped in the roadway on a hill crest on US59 due to construction when a truck driven by Orville Macklin, 90 of Miami, approached from behind.

Macklin's served to avoid hitting the vehicle in front of him, but struck the read driver side quarter panel.

Macklin's vehicle left the road, struck a culvert, went airborne for about 35 feet before landing on its wheels.

Macklin was transported to a Joplin hospital and was last reported in serious condition.
