Joplin gardeners can help Moore, Okla prepare for next spring

The City of Joplin is asking residents to help the town of Moore, Oklahoma recover from their tornado by planting flower bulbs.

Joplin Parks and Recreation has 26 pallets of flower bulbs and officials are asking area residents to pick some up from the Parks office and plant them in their yards, then dig them up to next spring to donate to Moore, Oklahoma to help beautify the recovering town.

"They're excited to get them, again it just comes down to timing," says Parks Director Chris Cotten.  "Their tornado was as big as ours and it may be a while before they're ready to receive the bulbs."

Persons picking up the bulbs will be asked to provide their name and contact information so the city can contact them in early 2014 to prepare for the donation of bulbs to Moore.
