Former Kansas state senator to receive $13,000 to settle lawsuit

Updated:

Kansas will pay a former state senator Jim Barone $13,000 to settle his lawsuit over a decision by gambling regulators to block his involvement in the Camptown dog racing track in Frontenac.

The State Racing and Gaming Commission rejected a background report on Barone in October 2007, refusing to discuss the reasons.

Last year a Shawnee County District Court Judge ruled that the commission had no grounds to reject the report and had painted Barone in a false light.
