Missouri Southern junior distance runner Jake Benton has been named to the CoSIDA

News Release Missouri Southern State University:

 

MissouriSouthern junior distance runner JakeBenton has been named to the Capitol One/College Sports InformationDirectors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Team as announced bythe organization today. 

Benton, athird-team pick and a native of Wentzville, Mo., was an All-MIAA and All-Regionpick this year in cross country. He helped the Lions to an 8th place finish atthe 2012 NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championships which was heldin Joplin.

He was alsonamed to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country CoachesAssociation All-Academic team for cross country this past season. 

To be namedto this honor, an individual must maintain a cumulative 3.30 GPA and firstbe named to their respective Academic All-District team. Bentonand teammate JeffFraley were both named Academic All-District. 

Bentonmaintains a 3.952 in biology and pre-med at Missouri Southern.

     Missouri Southern was the unanimous pick to win the MIAA Men's Cross Country Championship, while in the women's poll four different teams earned first place votes. Southwest Baptist earned the top nod in the women's poll by four points as they received five of the 11 total first place votes. More >>
