Neosho's annual BBQ & Golf Tournament has been scheduled

Updated:

NEWS RELEASE FROM THE NEOSHO AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE:

Thursday, September 26th has been set for Neosho's 38th Annual Industrial Appreciation Barbecue    "lunch" and the 27th Annual Golf Scramble, according to Steve Kelly & Brad Taylor, Co-Chairmen of the event.  Other committee members include Dustin Borland, Terry Telford, Maron Towse, Michael Compton, Gib Garrow, and Kathy Gambill. (Rain date is scheduled for Monday, September 30, 2013.)

Each year a date is set aside to have a dinner in appreciation of our Newton County industries and the contribution they make to our community's economy.  The lunch (instead of dinner) will be held in the Neosho Golf Clubhouse at 11:30 a.m.  Tee off time will be 12:00 p.m.  The Golf Tournament for industrial leaders in Newton County and Chamber members will follow the lunch and Social Hour will be at 4:30 p.m.

The Golf Tournament will be a two-person scramble with a $60.00 entry fee that includes all fees, mulligans and a cart.  Payments received after September 20th will be $70.00 per golfer.  Chairmen Kelly & Taylor stressed that registration is limited to the first 54 teams, so industries should get their entries in early.

The tournament will be under the direction of Maron Towse and registration forms will be available for the players from last year.  They will also be available at the Golf Course Pro Shop and at your Chamber at a later date closer to the day of the Tournament.

There will be a competitor's bracket for the best industrial team and the much-coveted travelling plaque.  There is a cash prize for the first and second place industrial teams as well. THERE WILL ABSOLUTELY BE NO CHANGING OF PARTNERS!

The barbecue lunch is furnished for industrial management and golfers at no charge.  The lunch is sponsored by area financial institutions, the City of Neosho, Newton County Economic Development Commission, Neosho Land Development, Inc., Neosho Area Business & Industrial Foundation, and the Neosho Area Chamber of Commerce.  For more information or to make reservations, contact Kathy Gambill at your Neosho Chamber at 451-2945.

The Hole prizes and the Industrial Team prize are being sponsored by area businesses at a minimum gift level of $50 to apply toward these prizes. If your company would like to be a Hole sponsor, contact the Department of Economic Development.

The Joplin school district is beginning to seek building plans for a new nine-to 14-million dollar preschool and daycare center. The push for more early learning can create competition for those already in the preschool business. State law now only requires students to go to school at kindergarten age but many believe learning begins much earlier. And the Missouri house and senate are both considering bills to reimburse districts for some students taking pre-kindergarten classes. Preschool...More >>
