Kansas Open Record training coming to Pittsburg

NEWS RELEASE FROM KANSAS ATTORNEY GENERAL:

TOPEKA – (June 28, 2013) –Registration is now open for the annual Kansas Open Meetings and Open RecordsAct training seminars, Kansas Attorney General Derek Schmidt announced today.The seminars will be presented at five locations across Kansas and aresponsored by the Attorney General's Office, Kansas Sunshine Coalition for OpenGovernment, Kansas Press Association and Kansas Newspaper Foundation.

"Transparency in governmentrequires elected officials, public employees, members of the media and thepublic to be informed about Kansas laws," Schmidt said. "We are pleased to onceagain offer these seminars on the basics of our open-government laws."

The schedule for the sessions isas follows:

Monday, July 22

9 a.m. - Noon

Garden City Community College
801 Campus Dr., Garden City

Tuesday, July 23

9 a.m. - Noon

Colby Community College
1255 S. Range Ave., Colby

Wednesday, July 24

1 - 4 p.m.

Memorial Hall
120 SW 10th Ave., Topeka

Thursday, July 25

1 - 4 p.m.

Memorial Auditorium
503 N. Pine St., Pittsburg

Friday, July 26

9 a.m. – Noon

Paola Justice Center
805 N. Pearl St., Paola

These seminars are free and opento the public. Space at each location is limited, and registration is on afirst-come, first-served basis. Participants can register on the KansasAttorney General's website, www.ag.ks.gov, or by calling (785) 296-2215 or (888) 428-8436.
