Art Feeds in Joplin is working on a mural project for 6th and Main Street. It's called the "I am Joplin" mural.
Art Feeds is collecting more than 600 pictures from residents holding signs that say "I am" and each person is asked to finish the sentence with one word that describes them.
There will be a large "I am Joplin" overlay on the entire mural.
"This is a way for us to put a face to those community members because as a whole we wouldn't be a who we are without this or that person so this is a really big tribute to that," says Meg Bourne Hulsey, founder and executive director of Art Feeds.
Art Feeds received a $500 grant and raised about $750 in donations for the project but are still collecting donations.
Organizers say they hope to have the entire project completed by August 10.
