Ribbon cutting held for new traffic signal on U.S. 60 in Neosho

Updated:

The Neosho Transportation Development District hosted a ribbon cutting for a new signal at Kodiak Road and U.S. 60 (see map).

Along with the new traffic signal left turn lanes were added in both directions.

The total cost of this phase of the project was just under $1 million.

About 1,300 cars use the intersection per day and officials say the improvements should reduce accidents and improve traffic flow on Highway 60.

"The light results in traffic being able to move its an important intersection, probably the most important intersection because of heavy traffic," says Gib Garrow, the Director of Economic Development the Neosho Chamber of Commerce.

Crews hope to start on the next phase of construction in Spring.  The plan is to put lights at Lusk Drive (see map).
